We collect information you provide directly, information created when you use WonderYarn, and technical information needed to operate, improve, and protect the service.

Information you provide

Depending on how you use WonderYarn, we may collect:

• Child profile information, such as a child's first name, age, gender selection, selected interests, and optionally a birthday month and day (no birth year), when you enter that information to create a personalized story or manage a child reading profile
• Parent or account information, such as your email address, if you create an account, contact us, or request support
• Story content and preferences, including the choices you make while generating, saving, or revisiting stories

Information collected automatically

When you use WonderYarn, we may collect technical and usage information such as:

• browser and device information
• IP address
• pages or screens viewed
• actions taken on the site
• session identifiers
• reading session information, such as story, page progress, reading mode, and timestamps
• analytics and diagnostic information related to story generation, reading activity, performance, and errors

Information stored in your browser

WonderYarn also uses browser storage technologies, including localStorage, to store certain information on your device. This may include:

• a persistent anonymous session identifier
• story journal/history information stored locally in your browser
• interface preferences, such as night mode or sound settings
• language preferences and similar settings

We use information to:

• create and personalize stories
• provide account features and saved-story functionality
• operate, maintain, and improve WonderYarn
• understand product usage and performance
• respond to support requests
• protect the service, enforce our terms, and prevent abuse or misuse

Please note that generated story pages are currently accessible by URL. If a story includes a child's first name, interests, or other details entered during story creation, that information may appear in the story content for anyone who has the link. Families should avoid entering sensitive personal information into story prompts or profile fields.

WonderYarn is intended to be used by parents, guardians, and families. We ask that only a parent or guardian create an account or provide personal information on behalf of a child.

We aim to collect only the information reasonably needed to personalize stories and support the service. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us without appropriate parental involvement, contact us at privacy@wonderyarn.com and we will review the request.

Parents and guardians may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with their account or child-related story data, subject to applicable law and technical limitations.

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

• keep the site functioning properly
• remember basic preferences
• measure usage and performance
• improve the WonderYarn experience

These technologies may include:

• Essential cookies, which are required for core site functionality
• Analytics technologies, which help us understand traffic, usage, and performance
• Browser storage technologies, including localStorage, which help us remember settings, session information, and locally stored story history

We use third-party service providers to help operate WonderYarn.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand site usage, product interactions, and performance. This may include information about pages viewed, story creation events, reading activity, navigation behavior, session activity, and technical diagnostics. Google Fonts

We use Google Fonts to display site fonts. When fonts are loaded from Google, Google may receive technical information such as your IP address and browser request data. See Google's privacy policy.

Firebase Authentication

We use Firebase Authentication for account login and identity services. Account-related information needed for authentication may be processed by Firebase. See Google's Firebase privacy information.

Hosting, infrastructure, and other service providers

We may also use service providers for hosting, infrastructure, communications, and support functions as needed to operate WonderYarn.

WonderYarn does not currently process paid subscriptions through a live payment flow. If we introduce paid features in the future, payment information will be processed by a third-party payment processor, and this Privacy Policy will be updated as needed.

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

• provide the service
• maintain accounts and saved stories
• support security, fraud prevention, and abuse prevention
• comply with legal obligations
• resolve disputes
• enforce our agreements
• improve service reliability and performance

This may include retaining IP addresses, analytics events, story records, and related usage data for security, abuse prevention, diagnostics, and operational purposes.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information. WonderYarn does not currently promise an automated deletion schedule for all categories of stored information.

Depending on where you live and how you use WonderYarn, you may have the ability to:

• access certain account information
• update account details
• contact us with privacy questions or requests

If you want to request deletion of account data, saved stories, or other personal information, contact privacy@wonderyarn.com. At this time, deletion requests are processed manually.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of storage is completely secure.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. If required by law, we will provide additional notice.
